Person dies after being hit by Tube at Oxford Circus as Victoria Line is suspended

THE Victoria Line has been partially closed after a person was killed by a train at Oxford Circus tube station. British Transport Police rushed to the central London station shortly after 4pm after reports of a person on the tracks.

Paramedics battled to save the person but later pronounced them dead at the scene.

The line was closed between Warren Street and Victoria, and there minor delays on the rest of the line following the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Work is now underway to trace the person's next of kin.

The spokesman said: "Officers were called to Oxford Circus London Underground station shortly after 4.00pm today following a report of a person being struck by a train.

"Officers from BTP attended the location alongside paramedics, however sadly the person was declared dead at the scene.

"The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious."
